Virgin Islands
8 Days, from St Thomas to St Thomas
Day 1 Thomas to Trunk Bay
An ideal place to start your charter, the bustling harbour of Charlotte Amalie is crowded with duty-free boutiques and first-class restaurants. Cruise from here to Trunk Bay on neighbouring St John, a perfect anchorage surrounded by the Virgin Islands National Park with its famous snorkelling trail at Oval Bay.
Day 2 St John to Soper’s Hole, Tortola
Cross the border to Tortola, the British Virgin Islands’ main island. Drop anchor at Cane Garden Bay and climb Mount Sage for panoramic views over the endless sandy beaches. Later, enjoy a well-deserved rum cocktail at Pusser’s Bay or Soper’s Hole.
Day 3 Tortola to Norman Island to Peter Island
Cruise across Sir Francis Drake Passage to Norman Island and explore the stalactite caves, snorkel The Indians, and take the tender to discover the original ‘Treasure Island’ before hitting party central at Willy T’s.
Day 4 Peter Island to Salt Island to The Baths, Virgin Gorda
A short hop to Peter Island and you can spend the morning waterskiing in the secluded White Bay. For true underwater exploration, wallow in the marine life around the Royal Mail Steamer Rhone – the most celebrated dive site in the BVI.
Day 5 The Baths to North Sounds, Virgin Gorda
The stunning natural formations of granite boulders that make up The Baths have created a plethora of snorkelling opportunities among the secluded rock pools, and for the more adventurous the grottoes are great for sea kayaking. Rendezvous with fellow seafarers at the Bitter End Yacht Club or, for an evening that is more South Beach than Caribbean, dress up for Saba Rock.
Day 6 Virgin Gorda to Anegada to Beef Island
With more than 3,000 wrecks teeming with exotic fish, the waters surrounding the low-lying coral island of Anegada are a paradise for divers and snorkellers. The endless white sand beaches are also home to a variety of wildlife, including pink flamingos and rock iguanas.
Day 7 Beef Island to Jost Van Dyke
Take a leisurely cruise towards Jost Van Dyke and drop anchor at the secluded anchorage of Green Cay, Little Jost Van Dyke. Then swim ashore to Jost Van Dyke’s Soggy Dollar Bay for a lively night.
Day 8 Jost Van Dyke to St Thomas
Cross the border back to the US Virgin Islands and step ashore to the sophisticated boutiques that line the harbour at Charlotte Amalie. Gently acclimatise to the hustle and bustle of a more ‘urban’ Caribbean before your flight home.
