Turkish Riviera
7 Days, from Gocek to Bodrum
Day 1 Gocek to Ekincik
Gocek’s location on one of the country’s most beautiful stretches of coastline is an ideal point of departure, but before setting sail the towns main square with its little shops and cafés is well worth a visit, as are the Turkish Baths. Cruise west to Eknicik.
Day 2 Ekincik to Marmaris
From Eknicik cruise up the Dalyan River and discover the ancient Lycian rock tombs and the therapeutic mud baths of Ancient Caunos. Try a challenging walk up to the ruins at Kapu Da in Ekincik itself before cruising on to anchor in the pin-clad bar of Marmaris.
Day 3&4 Marmaris to Keçi Bükü
Hop around from mooring to mooring, cruising past limestone mountains that are faintly rusted and speckled with scrub. Drop into secret coves along the way to the dramatic headland bay at ancient Loryma, ideal for a peaceful night’s anchorage.
Day 5 Keçi Bükü to Datça
Cruise along the largely uninhabited Datca peninsula and the bay of Datca. Enjoy an afternoon of water sports before crossing the bay to the picturesque harbour lined with seafood restaurants and bars.
Day 6 Datça to Knidos
Moor in the harbour of the ancient city of Knidos where you can see remains of the temple of Aphrodite the goddess of love and the first major nude statue of a woman in western culture.
Day 7 Knidos to Bodrum
Cruise the Gulf of Gokova and explore the ancient shipwrecks on the sea-beds around the Bodrum peninsula. Step ashore to embrace the town’s historical and cultural riches and its Bohemian lifestyle.
