Venice Film Festival
2nd - 12th Sep 2015
The oldest and most prestigious international film festival in the world will once again be held on the spectacular Lido of Venice in celebration of the world of film, arts and entertainment.
Founded by Count Giuseppe Volpi in 1932, the event is famed for bringing both established and emerging talent from over 41 countries to Italy, and has premiered some of the most notable films of recent years. Its aim is to raise awareness and promote the various aspects of international cinema in all its forms: as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. The Festival also organizes retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.
The awards ceremony presents three of the industry’s most coveted awards, to include: The Golden Lion for best film, the Silver Lion for best director, and the Volpi Cup for best actor or actress. Other awards include the Orizzonti Prize for feature length films, the Orizzonti Short Film Prize, and the Orizzonti Medium-Length Film award.
