2014 MYBA Charter Show Chef Competition results
Continuing on from the success of last year's chef competition for the C&NI charter fleet, both the 63.4m (208’) Polar Star and the 26m (85’3) Sultana scooped up prizes at this years MYBA Charter Show Chef Competition.
Chefs culinary skills were put to the test over the first three days of the recent MYBA Charter Show in Genoa. The theme was 'Made onboard is best - International brunch.' A savoury dish, a sweet dish and baked goods basket were scrupulously prepared for a panel of five stringent judges all looking for the ultimate in flavours, presentation and finesse.
The culinary delights prepared by Chef Pepijn 'Pino' onboard the 63.4m (208') Polar Star shone bright and picked up a praiseworthy 2nd place in the competitive 50m+ category. Appealing to both the eye and taste-buds, Pino showed-off his passion by serving up beautiful dishes using delectable rabbit as the core ingredient. The award-winning chef, whose impressive gastronomy background includes years of experience working in some of the world's most established Michelin star restaurants, has a natural talent for making his creations not only delicious but also works of art. Charter guests on Polar Star are in for a real treat with such a masterchef gracing the galley.
The 26m (85'3) Sultana was awarded a well-deserved 'Honorable Mention for Service' prize after leaving a long-lasting impression on the competitions judges. Fantastic dishes meticulously prepared by Chef George, combined with magic tricks, a beautiful table setting arranged by Karolina and the smile and warm welcome of Captain Veli and deckhand Damion contributed towards the overall experience.
Fiona Maureso, President of MYBA summed up the over all onboard experience: “What an amazing yacht. So practical, flexible, elegant and cool. Congratulations on a superb refit.”
