Antigua Yacht Show 2014 - Review
The Antigua Charter Yacht Show kicked off the winter season in December with Camper & Nicholsons showing off its charter yachts, amazing crew and team of brokers in fine style.
Icon had a tremendous show, winning accolades for their Cirque du Soir-themed yacht hop party, where people queued down the dock to come onboard and enjoy the spectacular decorations, cocktails and costumes. Craig Stevens, Head Chef on board Icon, also won Antigua Charter Show's Chef Competition.
The crew on Hurricane Run put on a grand show too, with their dazzling broker dinner and lunches bringing rave reviews, while Icarus also received outstanding feedback from visiting brokers for their fantastic lunches.
The Antigua show is also an opportunity for crew and brokers to learn more about the industry and this year was no exception, with the C&NI Crew Coach, Alison Rentoul giving a valuable talk on the hot topic of how to get the most out of the new younger generation of crew entering the industry. During the week C&NI Charter Manager Carine Zanotti also hosted two presentations for visiting brokers about the fascinating charter programme of the newly launched 65m Phinisi sailing yacht Lamima. Lamima and her 20 crew will be cruising Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, and the audience in Antigua were treated to a taste of the local area by cruise director Dominique Gerardin.
To thank the crew for all their extraordinary hard work and to celebrate 20 years of charter marketing, C&NI threw a great end of show party - sponsored by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas - on the deck of Club Sushi, above the Antigua Yacht Club overlooking the glittering lights of the superyachts in Falmouth harbour.
The winners of the brand new Show Stars Competition were announced and guests were treated to a giant Christmas tree decorated with a bountiful range of amazing fresh sushi, sashimi and maki rolls. Crew and C&NI representatives also raved about the delicious tempura prawns, chicken satay and tofu skewers served in large wooden boats around the deck.
As the crowd filled out, local Antiguan band Rico & Muzic4play created an absolutely fantastic atmosphere, with crew and brokers dancing and chatting amongst the pretty lights and signature purple C&NI balloons. The crew from Icon, Hurricane Run and Icarus were in attendance, as well as those from C&NI managed yachts Siren, Sai Ram, Odessa II and Troyanda - and a few lucky others who also received exclusive invitations.
As always, there was something for everyone at Antigua, and C&NI would like to thank all our participating staff and crew for making it such a successful week.
