Calliope wins World Superyacht Award
Launched last summer, Calliope is an all-aluminium gentleman’s yacht finished to the highest specification. No expense has been spared on this 42.28m (138’8) yacht that has been tailor made to her owners every wish. Her naval architecture and exterior styling are the work of Langan Design Associates, and the Rhode Island based experts created clean, masculine lines with a traditional feel. Atop her distinctive blue hull, her three decks feature an integrated bridge that contributes to her sleek profile.
Calliope’s interior reflects the architecture of a classic French château with its elegant curves, flowing lines, serene background and stylish loose furniture. However, the most striking feature of the yacht is a pair of reverse spiral staircases connecting all three decks. At their base are four guest staterooms stretching off a circular lobby, while up on the main deck is the lower saloon and dining area, which can be divided with a shoji screen and which is a lovely place to sit and watch the world drift by. A large sun deck with Jacuzzi and casual seating adds to her appeal. Having spent the first few weeks of her career cruising the fjords of Norway, Calliope is now available for charter in the Mediterranean throughout the year.
CNI had a number of finalists at this year’s awards, including the 56m (183’73) Panthalassa in the Best Sailing Yacht 45m+ category, the 55.05m (180’7) Kahalani in Best Displacement Motoryacht of 500GT to 1,299GT, the 45.60m (150’11) Illusion in Best Displacement Motoryacht of below 500GT, and the 41.1m (134’84) Odyssey in Best Refitted or Rebuilt Yacht.
