C&NI's Young Designer of the Year winner secures exciting design contract
Adam Voorhees, winner of World Superyacht Awards C&NI Young Designer of the Year in 2010, wins contract to design the refit for Sapphire Knight, a 26 metre fast sailing yacht.
Built largely in Kevlar and carbon, construction is now underway at the Seaway yard in Monfalcone, Italy and will include a new deck and house, transom extension, complete interior, as well as mast, boom and keel modifications.
The experienced owner's design brief called for a voluminous interior with full visibility from the large salon and fully equipped spaces to ensure casual luxury for family, friends, and on charter. The interior will be finished in a contemporary and comfortable style, complimenting the yacht’s clean lines and sleek profile. Accommodations include a large owners cabin forward, two ensuite guest cabins, and separated facilities including galley and two double ensuite crew cabins. Delivery is anticipated later this year.
Adam Voorhees made his mark in superyacht design back in 2010 with his impressive and imaginative project RA, which led him to be crowned Young Designer of the Year by the World Superyacht Awards. Sponsored by Camper & Nicholsons, the award generated great numbers of fabulous entries and competition was stiff. Credited by the judges as a bright new talent in yachting design, Adam Voorhees impressed the panel with his imaginative and detailed entry. Sapphire Knight's refit is sure to be an exciting and successful project.
