C&NI’s Yacht Management Division welcome a new ISM manager
Joining our Yacht Management Division this March is Richard Williams, in the position of ISM Manager. Initially working from the UK, Richard is scheduled to relocate to France at the beginning of July.
Having sailed since the age of 12, Richard was involved in yacht racing for many years in the Irish Sea and English Channel. He graduated in 1995 from Newcastle University with a degree in Naval Architecture and joined the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in June 2003 as a policy manager, having previously worked for Lloyd’s Register as well as new build and ship repair projects for Vosper Thorneycroft.
In 2005 Richard joined the MCA’s Southampton marine office as a marine surveyor where he was responsible for plan approval and surveys, and was lead auditor for ISM, ISPS and MLC. He also managed accident investigations and provided a point of contact for large passenger, research and cargo ship operators advising companies and operators on compliance and international requirements.
Richard has been involved in the survey and auditing of new build and existing large yachts for Ensign, the MCA’s large yacht unit, where he was also responsible for the development of LY3 and supported the development of the passenger yacht code.
C&NI are thrilled to add Richard’s industry and technical knowledge to our YMD team and look forward to bringing his expertise to our ISM managed yachts.
