How to Get the Most Out of Working With a Crew Agency
If you're currently looking for work or thinking about moving on to a new position, be sure to update your profile with the Crew Department so that your next perfect job doesn’t slip by.
Here at Camper & Nicholsons International we have developed some guidelines to help make this process as friendly and efficient as possible. This way you know exactly what to do and when, to give yourself the best possible chances of success.
Step one is to register with our agency online here if you haven't already. To do this you will need an up to date CV in Word or PDF format with a current photograph, showing you smiling and looking professional. You’ll also need the following scanned documents: STCW 95, medical certificate, any deck or engineering certificates, and a health and hygiene certificate if you are a chef. These are the most essential, but we also ask for a copy of your passport, written references, and any other qualifications you may have.
After you have registered, we invite you to come to our office in Antibes for an interview. We see crew every morning from 9:30 until noon, and since we aim to see as many crew as possible each day, we don’t take appointments. We prefer to meet you in person if possible, as this helps us get a good feel for your character and personality and have a better understanding as to which positions would suit you best.
When you come in to see us, we ask that you bring a copy of all your documents on a USB stick, along with any originals for verification. Don't forget to dress smartly - there's no need to go over the top but a clean, professional look goes a long way to making a good impression.
Once we have discussed your experience and what you are looking for, we will check your references and let you know when we have relevant positions. When jobs do come up, we will notify you prior to sending out your CV. It is important that we only submit you for jobs that you are interested in, and also we like to give you the heads up that you might be contacted for an interview. You can help move this process along by responding to our messages as quickly as possible so there is no delay if you do wish to be put forward.
And while you are on the job hunt, it is especially important that you check in with us regularly. Log onto the crew website here and update your profile by completing the 'check in' at least once a week. This is the best way to inform us of any changes in your availability, location, or contact details. And don’t forget to make sure your CV is current. It’s also a nice way to tell us if you have found a job and are no longer looking. This saves time for everyone, and we always remember the crew who kindly keep their profiles up to date.
Good luck with your job hunting and we hope to hear from you very soon.
