Icon chef scoops top prize at Antigua Charter Show 2014
Craig Stevens, Head Chef on board the 67.5m (221'5) motor yacht Icon, wins Antigua Charter Show's Chef Competition.
2014's Antigua Charter Show saw some of yachting industry's most talented and experienced chefs battle it out against one another for top spot in its coveted Chef Competition. This year Craig Stevens alongside his talented sous-chef Martin Parsons prevailed over their peers to take first place with a brilliantly executed menu, comprising inventive dishes such as scallop and cauliflower pannacotta and Newlyn crab.
Born in England, Steven's insatiable passion for food started from an early age when he used to pick strawberries and rhubarb with his grandmother on their English country farm and turn them into mouth-watering desserts for the family. An appetite for food led him to work for London’s Ivy restaurant, the Dorchester Hotel and the five star Four Seasons Hotel. His craving to taste different foods and flavors from around the world then took him to Australia for two years where he worked at Sydney’s finest restaurants. With two Rosettes (and many more awards) under his apron and hardcore experience working alongside Gordon Ramsey, he soon sharpened his blades and moved into the world of yachting.
Stevens is now impressing guests with his culinary skills on the equally impressive motor yacht Icon. Lucky guests stepping on board will get to try his award winning “Chocolate Fondant", a dessert which helped him to first place in Boat International's Rendezvous' Chef Competition earlier this year.
