Join us for a great line-up of professional development seminars during Monaco Yacht Show week

3rd Sep 2014

This year during Monaco Yacht Show week an exiting range of free professional development workshop and seminars for crew will be presented by the Professional Yachting Association and ACREW events.

Held at the International Hydrographic Organisation on the port of Monaco near Stars n Bars, seminars will be held on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the show covering current topics and upcoming changes and developments in the yachting industry. This is the ideal opportunity to network with influential people in yachting, get to know what is happening in the industry, and learn more to help develop your career. Our Crew Coach Alison Rentoul will also be there throughout the show and will be participating in workshops and seminars alongside numerous other industry experts.

On Wednesday 24th September the ACREW 10:00am Knowledge Sharing Session “Green and Lean” will focus on improving superyacht efficiency, looking at reducing yachting’s impact on the environment and applying lean business strategies to make better use of your budget. The day’s professional development workshops will continue this theme, and at 5pm the PYA will host a Sea Changes seminar with a focus on developments within yacht Engineering qualifications. All sessions throughout the day are headed up by industry leaders including superyacht captains, owners, business representatives, the PYA and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Thursday 25th September sees Sacha Williams, our European Director of Charter Marketing, host an ACREW knowledge sharing session at 10:00am titled “Learning from superyacht owners and business leaders, looking at some of the world’s top entrepreneurs to see what we can learn from them in the operation and management of our yachts." At 11:30 our Crew Coach Alison Rentoul will co-host a workshop focussing on social media and communications for crew when representing a superyacht, and at 5pm the PYA will present their annual general Sea Changes seminar covering changes in certifications, examinations, and the launch of the PYA/RYA Tender course,  hosted by representatives from the MCA, RYA, IHO, IAMI and the Maritime Accident Investigation Bureau.

At 10am on Friday 26th September Alison Rentoul hosts the ACREW knowledge sharing session titled “Crew as every superyacht’s natural asset” exploring teamwork, communication, safety, crew turnover and recruitment. The morning workshops continue in this theme, and at 2pm you are invited to join the Balearics Afternoon, highlighting the new matriculation tax regulations in Spain and presenting hidden treasures of these beautiful islands. At 5pm the PYA seminar is for yacht chefs and interior crew, discussing the Ship’s Cook Certificate and Kitchen to Galley courses, plus updates to the GUEST program and Food and Safety qualifications. Winners of the Monaco Yacht Show Table Decorating Competition will also be announced (to register for this competition email info@pya.org). All PYA seminars will be followed by networking drinks.

In addition ACREW will be hosting breakfasts and lunches every day at the International Hydrographic Organisation, providing networking and knowledge sharing opportunities for crew at all levels in the yachting industry. Alongside the interesting program of professional development seminars and workshops these create a wonderful opportunity for crew on all levels to network and share knowledge in a relaxed and informal setting.
