Market Intelligence - April's Activity Report

8th May 2012

This April the brokerage market has seen just under 30 yachts sold, with over a third of these sales being aged 10 years or older.   Last month, 60% of yachts sold were sized between 24m – 30m, followed by 30% of yachts in the size range 30-40m.  The total combined asking price for all the yachts sold during April exceeded EUR 105m resulting in the yearly total  in excess of EUR 500m+.

A 49m Heesen with an exterior design from Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and interior design from Remi Tessier, a 46m CRN priced at under EUR 13m with an interior design by Nuvolari & Lenard, and a 46m Cheoy Lee priced at USD 26.5m are just some of the yachts that have joined the Sales fleet during April.

Currently there are over 700 yachts worldwide for sale in the 30-40m size range which reflects an approximate 4% growth in the sales market for this size segment since April 2011.    During 2011 the size segment which reflected most yacht sales was the 30 – 40m size range, while so far during 2012 the 24 – 30m size range reflects where most yachts have sold.

Taking into account sales and purchase figures and statistics from this year's first quarter, Camper & Nicholsons is pleased to report that it is currently the strongest performing brokerage firm.
