Market Intelligence - March's activity report
The first quarter of this year has started well, with over 70 yachts selling. The most popular size range of yachts sold were 30-40m, and the European priced yachts just out sold the US dollar priced yachts during this period by a less than 10% difference. The total combined asking price for all the yachts sold in the first quarter exceeded EUR 436m with March selling the greatest value of yachts sold.
During March several new yachts entered the sales market with the largest being an Austal Yacht at over 58m, followed closely by a 56m Benetti that has not been offered for sale previously and an Amels, Feadship, Alloy and Perini, all over 50m.
Currently there are over 750 yachts worldwide for sale in the 24m-30m range showing an approximate 10% growth in market compared to April 2011. The market as a whole, from 24m and above, has grown less than 5% during the previous 12 months with no change in the market over 50m+ and very little change in the 40-50m segment. This indicates the growth of the brokerage market during the previous year has been in the 24m-40m market, while the value of yachts with an asking price in USD or GBP has changed very little during this previous year and the yachts with an Euro asking price has increased in value.
