Camper & Nicholsons' monthly activity report on the yachting market keeps you updated on recent trends from within the industry. Discover what's been happening this September.
As always, September marked a busy month on the yachting calendar as the superyacht industry hosted both the Cannes and Monaco Yacht Shows. Several notable yachts sold during the month including a 49m Christensen and a 47.5m Delta. On the smaller end of the scale a 26m Princess and 26m Esterel both sold, with Camper and Nicholsons being involved in both of these sales. In total approximately 20 yachts sold during September which is an increase on the numbers sold during the same month in both 2010 and 2011.
Several new yachts joined the market during September including a 65m Codecasa (first time on the market), a 54m Amels, a 52m Swede Ship (also first time on the market), a 47m Delta, and 46m Benetti.
Approximately five new sailing yachts joined the brokerage market for the first time including a new Alloy Sailing Yacht, 28.8m Wally yacht, and 38m Picchiotti.
With over 2000 yachts for sale over 24m on the market today, there are yachts to suit all possible criteria. In the 24-metre to 30-metre size segment there are approximately 800 yachts for sale - 10% of which are relatively new yachts having been delivered since 2010. 31% of the yachts in this size segment were built between 2005 and 2009. Therefore the majority of the yachts in this segment are over eight years old.
Approximately 52% of the 2000 yachts in the 24-metre to 30-metre segment are priced in Euro, with an approximate asking price value of Euro 1 billion, whilst 43% are US$ priced yachts with an asking price value of approximately US$ 1.1 billion. The remaining yachts 5% are priced in Sterling.
