Camper & Nicholsons analyse how the motor and sailing yacht market fared in August.
August is normally a quiet month for sales and new yachts being signed for sale as the yachts are busy with charter commitments or are being used by the owners. Nevertheless, this August saw over 45 yachts sold, almost double over the same period last year. Just over five sailing yachts sold during August to include a 43m Perini Navi, a 34m (111’5) CIM and a 30m (98’4) Spirit yacht. The motor yacht marketplace has seen four yachts close in the 50m+ range, to include a 50m (164’) Westport, a Benetti, CRN and Austal yacht. Currently there are over 20 yachts under offer with a value totalling over USD 64 Million out of which 50% find themselves in US waters and 50% in Europe and the rest of the world. Come the end of the summer, these should close.
This month has also seen quite a few larger yachts join the sales fleet for the first time, to include an 85m (279’) Neorion yacht, a 65m (213’) Feadship, and a 55m (180’4) Amels. Just under 10 sailing yachts joined the brokerage market, some for the first time to include a yacht by Carbon Ocean, CIM and a Camper & Nicholsons built yacht from 1952. Some of these motor and sailing yachts will be available for viewing in the upcoming yacht shows in Cannes and Monaco.
