New Camper & Nicholsons Additions in the US

16th Oct 2013

We are delighted to welcome three new team members to our US offices, Ralph Raulin, Jim and Jamie Wallace.

Ralph Raulin joins the Camper & Nicholsons Fort Lauderdale office as new Director of Yacht Management USA.

Ralph grew up in Virginia and Maryland where he developed a passion for being on the water. After studying Business Administration and Marketing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Ralph got his start in the yachting industry working with Hatteras of Lauderdale/Allied Marine as a broker and yacht manager.  From there he moved to become Vice President and Managing Director at Amels-Nigel Burgess, overseeing several aspects of the company from managing the Charter Department to organizing Boat Shows. His most recent employment was at Wesport Yachts where he worked as a yacht broker for nine years and established a solid reputation and impressive record of yacht sales.

With over 25 years experience in the industry, Ralph brings to his role at Camper & Nicholsons invaluable management, organizational and sales skills.

James (or Jim) Wallace, spent his childhood playing in all sorts of boats and yacht club racing on Charleston (SC) harbor; thus began his love affair with the sea. Since that time, he has never lived far from the ocean and has been fortunate to have been in superb boating locations: Key West, Mt. Desert Island, Captiva Island, Annapolis and Palm Beach.

His university studies were in architecture but subsequent to his Navy service he reverted to the sea, working in various maritime pursuits: heavy marine construction; commercial fishing; sport fishing; charters; marine service; sail and power yacht deliveries - basically anything to do with the ocean. In any spare time he enjoyed/enjoys all sports and especially any to do with water - either liquid or crystal (snow).

He started yacht brokering in 1980 in Annapolis, but in subsequent years he found that he was spending most of his time on planes to south Florida and to Europe. To minimize a bit of travel, he moved to Palm Beach in 1993. In 1995 he started working with Camper & Nicholsons in their Palm Beach office.

Jim enjoys assisting his clients with all aspects of yacht purchases and sales and has been involved in all manner of sail and power yachts to lengths of 258’ (to date). With his design background he especially enjoys new construction projects. Some of which he has done for/with highly experienced clients have been:

•    122' Delta, Louise. A new design for the noted Delta shipyard in Seattle, this led to their highly successful 122'-124' series

•    58m Abeking & Rasmussen, Excellence III.

•    47m Bloemsma & Van Breemen, Flying Eagle

•    78m Abeking & Rasmussen, now known as Eminence

•    60m Abeking & Rasmussen, Excellence V

Jamie Wallace was born in Annapolis, MD, and has lived in the Palm Beach area for the past 18 years. Having always lived near water, he has been an avid boater since childhood and since then has sailed extensively in the British Virgin Islands, Belize and the Bahamas.

In 2007 Jamie graduated from Eckerd College with a degree in Management and has also taken several international business courses in Morocco and Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand). Upon graduation, he started work on his MBA but decided to put his studies on hold and went to work with his father at the Palm Beach Camper & Nicholsons office as Junior Broker.

Since then Jamie has formed strong relationships with some of the leading international brokers with stints at Fraser Yachts and Edmiston and most recently HMY Yachts where he successfully developed the Charter Retail and Charter Management Divisions. To continue his drive to work with the finest clientele and yachts together with the leading yacht services company, he has returned to Camper & Nicholsons as a Charter Broker in the Fort. Lauderdale office.

Jamie enjoys an active lifestyle with all manner of water sports from scuba diving to surfing and land sports from snowboarding to being a tournament calibre tennis player.

We wish all three a very warm welcome and look forward to working with them.
