Newport Bucket Regatta Review
As official sponsors of the 2012 Newport Bucket Regatta, Camper & Nicholsons brokers and clients were ready to cheer on the yachts set to race in this celebrated annual sailing yacht regatta. Andrew LeBuhn, who recently joined our brokerage team, gives his accounts on the weekend.
"The event got off to a great start on the Friday night, with lots of old friends catching up at the Newport Shipyard. Then, on Saturday Camper & Nicholsons hosted an event for clients and friends aboard our new listing ARABELLA, a 160' Palmer Johnson Sailing Yacht. The event was a fantastic success, with guests enjoying a beautiful sunny day as they watched the start of the race off Castle Hill. Later, all aboard were treated to a short sail. On Saturday evening, there was another party at the Newport Shipyard with great food and music which lasted well into the night.
On Sunday everyone did their own thing which ranged from watching the race from shore at Castle Hill, to joining a spectator boat. I was lucky enough to be invited aboard the Bucket Race Committee boat INMOTION. She is a 2008 135' Dubois/Fitzroy Sailing Yacht (Listed at US$13.5M) and is an amazing vessel. The crew was amazing, funny and very professional. The Bucket Committee was terrific and full of laughter and good cheer. The races, when they finally got off in light winds, were great to watch as always. Indio (a New Wally 101) was the eventual overall winner. On Sunday evening, the event was capped off with a great awards dinner at the Ochre Court Mansion on Bellevue Avenue in Newport.
As always, it was a super weekend."
