Red Dragon: For Sale

28th Jul 2014

Camper & Nicholsons International are delighted to welcome the 51.7m (169’7) aluminium cruising sloop Red Dragon to the sales fleet.

Built by Alloy Yachts in 2008, this luxurious and fast 51.7m (169’7) aluminium cruising sloop is one of the finest examples of New Zealand boat-building expertise. Designed by Dubois Naval Architects to offer high performance cruising potential as well as ultimate luxury and comfort, Red Dragon really does have it all and is sure to impress all who board her.

Exterior lines are contemporary and clean, and deck spaces are multifunctional and offer plenty of lounging opportunities. Her Aft is a large flexible area, perfect for cocktails at sunset whilst her cockpit houses an inviting alfresco dining and lounging space, which can seat up to ten guests.  Red Dragon’s flybridge - with a bar and an expansive sunbathing area - offers a wonderful escape for those looking to kick back and relax in the sun. When guests need a break from its rays, a bimini sun-awning can be quickly erected to provide shade over the flybridge.

Perfectly complementing her exterior styling, Red Dragon’s Wilmotte & Associates interior is minimal yet relaxed and offers a calming ambience thanks to plenty of natural light and the incorporation of muted colours. Typically used to designing contemporary museums and art galleries, Red Dragon was Wilmotte & Associates’ first yacht interior and their fresh take on yacht design is evident and appreciated throughout. As a result she is littered with ingenious design elements, such as a remarkable stairway that not only cleverly creates distinct zones — bar, dining and salon — on the main deck, but also creates a strong sense of connection between the communal entertainment areas of the yacht and the staterooms below.

Just as the rest of her, Red Dragon’s accommodation is well thought out, spacious and luxurious. She has four comfortable and well-appointed staterooms for eight guests, including a full beam Owner's suite which boasts a large pop-up LCD TV and luxurious bathroom with a freestanding bathtub. The other three staterooms include two mirror-image double suites and a twin-bed suite (which also has a Pullman).  Opposite the twin stateroom is a fully equipped gymnasium, which also has a Pullman berth should an extra bed be required. What’s more, all guest staterooms have individual climate control, ensuite bathrooms and full access to the Kaleidascape entertainment system with its vast library of movies and music.

With her flexible spaces, uniquely clever and subtle styling, and impressive naval architecture, there is no arguing Red Dragon is one very special, super sailing yacht.
